What computer do I need to play Altnet music and video files?
To play Altnet files you’ll need a PC running Windows XP or Vista, with Windows Media Player 10 or later. You’ll also need to install the Altnet Music Plugin, a free 60s download (if you don’t have the Altnet Music Plugin installed, you’ll be prompted to install it at the time you play our files).
Will Altnet files play on my Mac?
Sorry, our files are currently PC only (they will also work if you’re running Windows on your Mac).
Will Altnet files play on my Linux PC?
Sorry, our files need a Windows PC and Windows Media Player.
Will Altnet files play on my iPod or portable MP3 player?
Currently our low-priced subscription offerings allow play on a PC only. In future we may offer additional subscription packages which allow play on portable devices as well, but for now you can enjoy our unlimited music downloads for one low monthly price on any 3 PCs that you own.
Ringtones
What type of ringtones does Altnet provide?
All our ringtones are high quality recordings, known as Mastertones, Truetones or Realtones.
These are excerpts from high-quality recordings by the original artists, supplied directly by the major music labels.
Older-style ringtone formats, including polyphonic and monophonic (“poly” and “mono”) ringtones, can’t provide the high quality of the original music track that you would expect to hear on a modern cellphone, and hence we do not support these older formats.
What cellphone do I need to play Altnet ringtones?
Due to the huge number of cellphone models and the rate at which new models are being introduced, it’s impossible to say that model X is supported, or model Y is not supported.
Accordingly, before you subscribe to one of our ringtone packages, you should check that your cellphone is capable of playing ringtones in at least one of these supported formats:
MP3, AMR, WAV, ADPCM, AAC, MP4
If your cellphone supports at least one of these ringtone formats, then it’s likely (though we cannot guarantee) that it will play the ringtones available from Altnet.
