Burning to CD, transferring files to other PCs
Can I burn my Altnet files to CD?
No, Altnet currently doesn’t offer a “purchase to own” option, and the files that you download from Altnet cannot be burnt to CD.
Can I copy my Altnet files to other computers?
Yes, you can copy and play your Altnet music files on up to three computers that you own.
You can either copy the files directly from between your various computers, or you can simply log into the Altnet web site and download the files again onto each computer.
What is Digital Rights Management (DRM)?
DRM is a set of technologies content owners can use to protect their copyrights and stay in closer contact with their customers. In most instances, DRM is a system that encrypts digital media content and limits access to only those people who have acquired a proper license to play the content. That is, DRM is a technology that enables the secure distribution, promotion, and sale of digital media content on the Internet.
Should I back up my licenses?
Windows Media Player gives you the ability to back up your licenses, and it’s a good idea for you to periodically do so. However, Altnet allows you to play your Altnet music files on up to 3 computers, so if you only plan to play your Altnet files on 1-2 computers there’s probably no great advantage to backing up your licenses, as we’ll automatically relicense your files as needed.
